Review: Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops - Halo

Throughout the beauty world, I have heard so much about the Cover FX Custom Cover Drops but was truly intimidated by the idea of being in charge of custom mixing a foundation for myself. However, the moment I heard that they brought out a similar product for highlighting and contouring, I became intrigued. Along with approximately everyone else who is interested in makeup, I've been particularly obsessed with highlighting and have tried a few that I really love. There's the classic Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector powders that everyone loves (and with good reason) but I hadn't branched out to liquid highlighters before

I had initially went into Sephora in search of the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Prismatic Amethyst but upon realizing that my Sephora didn't have it, was in search for something similar. The lovely MUA at Sephora pointed me in the direction of Cover FX's Custom Enhancer Drops in Halo, the perfect blue/purple highlighter that looks like you came straight out of a Katy Perry music video. It was beautiful when I swatched in store and was unable to stop myself from making the purchase.

The MUA suggested that I apply the product with my fingers or a Beauty Blender and I chose to try using my fingers for the first application. The product itself blended beautifully into the skin and a little product goes a long way. When I say this, I mean that one single drop was enough to highlight the tops of both cheekbones with the in-your-face highlight that I admittedly love. This highlighter made me nervous, because I typically opt for golden shimmers in a highlight because of my skin tone, but I actually enjoy that this is a bit more cool toned. Depending on the lighting you're in, this product can shift between pulling more blue, purple, or pink, but from far away looks amazing no matter what with a pretty sheen.

Wear time on this product is impressive; I feel that liquid products generally wear better on my skin (normal with oily t-zone) and this product wasn't an exception. It didn't wear off the skin and still looked great after a few hours. I think that this product will be fantastic for going out to grab a drink under dim lighting and because of the way it can look under different lighting conditions, I could see this product working for a wide range of skin tones from super fair skin to deeper tones as well. Still not sure about the splurge? Ask for a sample at Sephora! If you do, I'm certain your sample will last you a long time since you don't have to use much product at all.

What are your thoughts on liquid highlighters? Do you prefer pressed highlighters or more cream/liquid based products?

xx Mary

  2. I've been too scared to try liquid highlighters. Or even a blue/purple tone one. But this one really does look pretty...
