I'll be the first to say it: lip products are my weakness. I don't know what it is about lip products - maybe it's the ability to change an entire look, being experimental, or having a lip look for different occasions. Whatever it is, I'm a complete sucker for it and one of the only times I find it difficult to exhibit self-control is when a lip product is involved. Somehow, though, I've managed to narrow down a handful of my favorite products in this post, fondly titled my ride or die lip products.
There's a part of me that feels as though I am in the silent minority that really, really loves liquid lipstick. I've seen so many people that don't enjoy liquid lipsticks as much as other products for various reason, but I find that they work really well for me. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are among my favorites, since they really do last forever and I especially the wide range of shades. If you're not about that $20-a-pop life, the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are amazing and affordable. They glide on so smooth and don't dry out my lips, plus I actually really enjoy how they smell.
As far as actual lipsticks go, I don't typically go for matte shades (I enjoy a matte liquid lipstick) and usually go for shades that I can easily throw on without a mirror. Now, I do love a bold lip, but when I spend money on lipsticks, it is usually for a more natural color. Chanel Mademoiselle is a cult favorite and with good reason. It's the perfect 'my lips but better' color and I love how it feels on my lips. Wear time isn't the greatest, especially after eating and drinking, but it's so easy to reapply that I'm not bothered by it. I also have been loving Lipstick Queen's Frog Prince - I know what you're thinking: there's absolutely nothing natural about a lipstick with a green hue but hear me out. This lipstick looks green but as you apply it, it transforms into a beautiful pink. This is another one that I love throwing on without having to worry about
As far as lip liners go, I only own one (sue me) but it's a staple that I sometimes wear on its own. MAC's Soar is an amazing liner that I like to wear under lipstick (Mademoiselle in particular) or just on its own and it's perfect. It wears really well throughout the day even after my morning coffee and never feels tight or drying on my lips. When I'm feeling for something a little more on the glossy side, I often opt for a lip plumper rather than a super colored gloss. Soap and Glory's Sexy Mother Pucker works pretty well although it does tend to be sticky. I recently tried Too Faced Lip Injector Extreme and actually prefer it more in all aspects.
This post really could have gone on for ages but these are just a few of my favorite lip products. What are your ride or die products for your lips? Email me, tweet me, snap me, anything - I'd just love to know!
xx Mary
